Tourism in Havana – that presently accounts for more than half of the total number of foreigner visitor travelling to Cuba – is said to have had it is origin back in the mid – 19 th century, when a regular maritime transportation service was establish between the United Stated and the Cuban capital to operate several new hotels that had been built around the Havana City.

Havana 's greater charm is the city itself, with it is diverse architecture, wide avenues and famous promenades, particularly those at the city's history center, declared by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1982. Havana City shows an intense and permanent scientific and cultural activity, a 20 kilometers long strip of beach along a 47 kilometers long coastline that is suitable for fishing and diving. Encircled by a wide protective green belt that ensures the city's environment health, Havana has a large and functional hotel and tourist infrastructure. The lighthouse at Morro Castle and a weathervane that stand on top of an ancient colonial fortress and is known as La Giraldilla are two of the most famous and distinctive symbols of the city. Visiting the Tropicana cabaret, La Bodeguita del Medio restaurant and the Floridita bar-restaurant is a most for visitors to Havana.

For a more pleasant stay we recommend to visit:

The History Center: El Templete, a small neoclassic building, inaugurated in 1828 at he place where the city is considered to have been founded, could be well be the starting point for a tour of the city's Arm Square, The Cathedral Square, all three surrounded by valuable colonial building and located within the so – called - intra mural city.

The Nine O'clock Cannon Shot Ceremony: It is a traditional and showy ceremony that take place every night at the San Carlos de La Cabaña fortress. During the Colonial days the nine o'clock cannon shut indicated the time when the village's gates were closed and the chain that blocked the bay entrance was laid from Morro Cabañas Castle to la Punta fortress. The nine o'clock cannon shot has presently come to mark the beginning of the cheerful Havana night.

The Jose Martí Memorial: Important location at the Jose Martí Revolution Square. Inaugurated in 1996, the memorial displays original relics, documents and engravings connected with the Cuban National Hero's life and work. Atop the Memorial's obelisk a tower made of concrete and lined with marble that rises 138.5 meter high above sea level – is the city highest look-out point.

The Christ of Havana: The work of well-known Cuban sculptress Jilma Madera, this sculpture is one of the biggest and most attractive monuments in the Cuban capital. The 18 meter high piece that stands on top of the Cabaña Hill overlooking the bay was made of Carrara marble and is considered the biggest open-air monument ever built by a woman.
